Jewish Volunteering Awards launched at JVN Chanukah Party
Thursday 10 December 2009Over 70 specially invited guests gathered at the new UJS Hillel building on Thursday 10 December as a thank you for their support as volunteers for the charities working in the Jewish Social Action Hub. Each guest donated a small gift to World Jewish Relief to be distributed to disadvantaged people in Eastern Europe.
The Chief Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks thanked everyone for contributing their gift of time noting how volunteering elevates both the giver and receiver. Lady Sacks, an advisory board member of JVN launched the Jewish Volunteering Awards Scheme, taking place next June 2010, which would be an innovative opportunity for all charities to honour those who volunteer for them.
