JVN shortlisted as Charity of the Year in the Charity Times Awards 2011

JVN is delighted to announced that it has been shortlisted in the Charity Times awards as Charity of the Year 2011: with an income of less than one million.

The prestigious award is given to: the organisation that the judges believe has: consistently delivered outstanding service to its beneficiaries, promoted and raised its cause, been clear in its goals and strategy, and demonstrated excellence all round, especially within the last year.

Responding to the shortlisting, Leonie Lewis, Director of JVN, said that:
"We are delighted but strangely enough, not really surprised. JVN has been at the forefront of volunteering in the Jewish Community over the last couple of years, and our growth has been exponential, particularly over the last year with a concerted social media push via Facebook, blog and Twitter. Thanks to our active Trustee and Advisory Boards, we have also become a model of excellence in charity Governance and, at the same time, really impacted on the Jewish charity sector and beyond.

"With nearly 250 organisations in the JVN network, we have connected thousands of volunteers to opportunities in hundreds of Jewish charities in our short life span. Really, we would really like to win for our Chairman and
co-founder Susan Winton, who is truly deserving of the Award. She and the late Dr Judy Citron (z"l), conceived JVN just a few years ago and have encouraged and enabled its development from the outset to what we are achieving today."
