Three Faiths Forum

Hi!

Interested in the idea of interfaith work? Could you speak about your faith to a class of Muslim, Christian school kids? How would you fancy doing an empowerment project mentored by an MP? With the Three Faiths Forum, all of these are possible. May I suggest you read on..

The Three Faiths Forum has worked to encourage dialogue and confront prejudice for more than ten years. Our objective is to build lasting relationships between people of different faiths, cultures and communities. And it would be great to have you joining us in furthering these aims.

If you are keen to get involved, there are a number of options available to you:

1. Volunteer speaking in schools

The Three Faiths Forum are recruiting volunteers from Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Humanist, Jewish, Muslim and Sikh backgrounds to talk to young people in schools through our ‘Encountering Faiths’ programme. It gives school children in the Greater London area the chance to hear speakers talk about their religious or non religious beliefs, and to get their burning questions answered. You will receive full speaker training, and it is a great way to develop your public speaking. And it won’t look bad on your C.V!

I’m interested – what next? Please write to Gwilym at education@threefaithsforum.org.uk, including 1) a paragraph about yourself, describing your faith/beliefs and why you are interested in volunteering with us, and 2) a daytime phone number and good time to call so our staff can give you an informal phone interview.

2. Undergraduate ParliaMentors

Undergraduate ParliaMentors is an award winning initiative (winner of the UN Award for Intercultural Innovation) that equips the next generation of politicians and community leaders, with the skills, experiences and networks they need to advance their leadership careers and advance social change today. The programme gives trios of Jewish, Christian and Muslim students the opportunity to be mentored by parliamentarians, as well as create and deliver ‘empowerment projects’ with support from leading NGOs. Participants on the programme receive training and attend events helping them to widen their professional and social networks.

I’m interested – what next? If you are studying a politics-related degree (Politics, International Relations, Law, Economics, Sociology etc.), are currently in your 1st or 2nd year, and would like to receive an application form when the process opens in April, please email Becca@threefaithsforum.org.uk to be added to our contact list. See: http://www.threefaithsforum.org.uk/Mentoring_UP.html for more information.

3. Internship opportunities

We run internships in our Education, Communications, Events, and Mentoring Teams. If you are interested in any of these, please contact Maja with a C.V.

Please see our website – www.threefaithsforum.org.uk – for more information, and don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Hope to hear from your soon.

Thanks,

Gwilym
