Neuroblastoma Children's Cancer Alliance

Our vision is to do all we can to beat Neuroblastoma.

Our mission is to help children and families affected by neuroblastoma through providing financial assistance for children’s treatment and to fund leading clinical research in recognised cancer centres.

Our work is to help parents, families; friends and communities raise funds to support the treatment of children suffering from the disease. About a hundred children are diagnosed each year in the UK. The prognosis for babies and children affected by neuroblastoma varies greatly.

Unfortunately the largest group of patients fall into the 'high-risk' category where despite intensive treatment, the majority are not cured.
Children with advanced neuroblastoma can receive chemotherapy, surgery, radiation therapy, stem cell transplant, and immunotherapy.

Specialists in America and Europe are working together, sharing information and trialling different treatments in different countries. New treatments that utilise special antibodies are being trialled in Europe—including the UK—and the USA. The criteria for participation in these trials vary to some extent, which is why some children have to travel to America or Germany. The Neuroblastoma Alliance funds their treatment abroad which is why we need your support.

Our goals are to fund research as well as helping individual children. The Alliance has made a grant of £100,000 towards the costs of a 3 year research project (improving the outcomes for children with neuroblastoma through the optimisation of radiation treatments) at the Paediatric Radiotherapy section of the Department of Oncology at University College Hospital.

Ultimately, we want to improve the outcome for all children with neuroblastoma.
