TRUSTEE INFORMATION PAGE

Trusteeship is a key area of volunteering in the community. Many people commit to becoming a trustee of an organisation and dedicate many hours working for the organisation. JVN is keen to support the trustees of the community by providing information and trustee networking and information seminars. These are designed specifically for trustees and will cover issues that are relevant to trustees. We plan to hold these events three times a year so keep an eye out for information about the next one in November.

Here is some key information on Trusteeship from external bodies that JVN works closely with.

CHARITY TRUSTEE NETWORK (CTN)

CTN is the national charity for trustees, providing opportunities for trustees to share knowledge and experience with each other. They aim to:

Increase trustees' access to information, guidance and support through networks, a website, signposting and services;

Develop understanding and awareness of trusteeship and governance

Rodney Buse from CTN works closely with the JVN trustees and spoke at the first Trustee Networking and Information Seminar in February. Rodney is also a member of the JVN Advisory Board as JVN recognises the need for good governance and the input that Rodney can offer to the development of JVN and its support to the JVN members.

The JVN Trustee and Networking Seminar in July was entitled 'Focus on Finance -Everything Trustees Need to Know' where we asked financial experts to talk about the financial responsibility of trustees. It was hosted by HW Fisher and Company Accountants who offer a specialist service to charities.

HW Fisher and Company

The HW Fisher Charities Group is one of the leading professional advisers to the voluntary sector. They act for over 300 charities and charitable trusts, and clients range from local groups to organisations operating nationally and internationally.

Their services include audit, VAT, tax and business planning, and all of the charities team are specifically trained in every aspect of charity finance.

If you are a trustee of a charity looking for some financial advice in this field then please log on to http://www.hwfisher.co.uk/site/cms/contentCategoryView.asp?category=228

JVN is also in contact with CCLA Investment Management who also spoke at the July Trustee Networking and Information Seminar. Here is some information about CCLA and what they can offer your charity.

CCLA

CCLA is a specialist investment management for charities, faith organisations, and local authorities. They provide the broadest range of funds designed specifically for charities.

They are owned entirely by our charity, faith and local authority clients. They manage the business exclusively for their benefit. This puts CCLA in a unique position to help not-for-profit organisations achieve their aspirations and enable trustees to meet their obligations.

For more information about the CCLA service, log on to their website www.ccla.co.uk
