Work experience

Work experience is a necessary part of most young people’s education, and work experience in a charity will enable them to something worthwhile alongside gaining an insight into the workings of a professional non-profit organisation. Such opportunities are often quite informal and only last a week or two. A good work experience placement will give the student a good all-round overview of how different aspects and departments of the charity work.

You won’t find many work experience opportunities on our website due to their informal nature. For more formal and longer term opportunities for young people, take a look at our internships page. However, if you do want a work experience opportunity you should identify the sort of charity that would suit you. Then contact the JVN Volunteer Development Manager, Mike Silverstone, who will investigate the possibility of work experience with a relevant organisation. You can reach him at mike@jvn.org.uk or on 020 3869 3894.
