Outstanding Volunteer of the Year: Dimitri Raziev, Gift

Dimitri Raziev gained tremendously from being mentored as a child. Now working as a financial analyst in the city he decided that it was time to give back by launching GIFT tutoring Club. Each week children from struggling families are matched with a tutor to help with their chosen subject. Dimitri has given many hours on a weekly basis, both to set up this initiative, encouraging and inspiring his friends to get involved and also to be a tutor. Hundreds of volunteering hours have been given as a result and children have benefited hugely from his inspiring input.

JWA’s forty helpline volunteers are often the first people women speak to about the abuse they have suffered. The helpliners are highly trained and committed to supporting women on the first step of their journey away from abuse. They show empathy, kindness and compassion and we are incredibly proud of the professional service they offer.
