Jewish Young Professionals WhatsApp - Powered by JVN

JVN Connect is a volunteering initiative delivered by JVN. Launched in September 2023, it gave young adults in the community the chance to experience the power of volunteering and see first-hand the difference they could make.

Following the success of the JVN Connect pilot, the cohort created a Young Professionals WhatsApp group to offer tailored updates on volunteering opportunities that fit busy schedules. The group provided notifications about flexible and one-off roles that didn’t require a regular commitment.

Our first cohort for JVN Connect ran from December 2023 to November 2024.

From the start, the volunteers helped shape JVN Connect, sharing their interests through a survey that allowed us to design opportunities around the causes they cared about. Their input led to exciting collaborations with three charities, creating a truly personalised volunteering journey. Together, we created a programme where every project felt purposeful—and every contribution mattered.

The cohort of 16 supported organisations, including The Young Barnet Foundation, Feast With Us, and the US Asylum Seekers Centre. Their volunteering reached many across different areas of need.: wrapping 200 presents for children, cooking 100 meals, and packing over 250 care parcels for people in need. The second part of the programme focused on the cohort taking the lead in their volunteering. This ranged through a variety of ad-hoc activities—from community gardening to supporting the Maccabi GB Community Fun Run.
