Volunteering comes in all shapes and sizes. You could be looking for a long-term or a one-off volunteering opportunity, either down the road or in another country. With hundreds of live opportunities from charities across the Jewish and wider community, we’ve got you covered! You can check out all our opportunities here or read more about the different types of volunteering below.

Regular and ongoing volunteering

Volunteering at set intervals – such as on a weekly or fortnightly basis – is the best way to fill your time, make new relationships or learn new skills. It will help you to make volunteering part of your regular routine, giving you a place, time and list of tasks to do and allowing you to make an ongoing contribution of your time to a charity.

One-off volunteering

If you can’t afford to commit to volunteering at regular intervals or you just want a taste of what volunteering is like, we have plenty of one-off opportunities to make a difference. It’s a good way to get to know a charity and to form part of a team for just a few hours.

Family-friendly volunteering

Volunteering with your family and friends is a good bonding exercise and also a good way to give back to a charity or cause that has affected you and your nearest and dearest. Some volunteering opportunities – particularly one-offs – are suitable for all ages, and we also try to offer more of these around school holiday times.

Work experience

For those looking to gain new skills and experiences, work experience at a charity offers you the chance to see what working in a fast-paced environment is like, while also making a difference to your community. If you are interested in gaining some charity work experience, please contact us.

More ways to volunteer

There are so many options available and it can be difficult to know where to start. If you’re looking for some more personalised help finding the opportunity that’s right for you, click here.

Offer your skills

You can also wait for charities to approach you. If you have specific skills that you would like to offer to charities, visit your account page, select 'Offer skills' and fill in the form. The you just wait for a charity to get in touch with you! You’ll need a JVN account to do this – if you don’t have one yet, click here to register.
