Registering as a volunteer can open up a whole new world of volunteering opportunities

JVN runs twice yearly a Volunteer Coordinator Seminar. The seminars are usually set up around one theme and always include a ‘hot topic session’.  The aim of the session is to exchange information and experiences between people who manage volunteers. We encourage participants to be of assistance to each other outside of these workshops.

Other volunteer support groups that Volunteer Managers might be interested in are:

Association of Volunteer Managers

The Association of Volunteer Managers (AVM) is an independent body that aims to support, represent and champion people who manage volunteers in England regardless of field, discipline or sector. It has been set up by and for people who manage volunteers.

Yahoo group

This is an electronic noticeboard for Volunteer Managers and volunteers within organisations, a place to ask questions of others who may already have tried and tested something you are planning to do and will happily share their experiences.

IVO

Described as ‘a Facebook for volunteering’, IVO has interest groups and you can also ‘friend’ and ‘follow’ people. It may be worth joining the Volunteer Managers’ group to get information about Volunteer Managers’ meet-ups, and also for the Thoughtful Thursday Twitter chat.

NCVO

The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) is the largest umbrella body for the voluntary and community sector in England. NCVO gives voice to, champions and strengthens volunteering and civil society.
