Afghan Association Paiwand (Paiwand) aims to benefit the refugee community in North West London through reducing poverty, advancing education, enhancing integration, and relieving suffering . We have widened our objects beyond just helping the Afghan community and now support people from all ethnic groups.

We achieve our aims by providing a number of culturally sensitive services to beneficiaries including:
• Supplementary education to 100 migrant children each year through Saturday Schools in North West London. These schools provide Maths and English to underachieving children between the ages of 5-11 years old.
• Organising classes for the Afghan students to maintain their bilingual skills by providing Home language practice
• English Language classes to 60 women and men each year through entry-level ESOL courses held in four locations across North West London.
• Information, advice and advocacy to over 400 people each year through a central hub that operates across North London. Our service provides immigration advice as well as advocacy on housing, welfare, employment and debt.
• Social, cultural and sporting activities to over 1,500 people each year. These include drama and music classes, sports clubs, a football team, a cricket club, summer activities and trips.
• Encouraging a sense of purpose and social activities to tackle isolation in the refugee community by initiating projects such as Home Language classes.
• Supported housing for 25 unaccompanied minors each year. We operate two buildings which provide support and accommodation and life skills support to young refugees.
• Culturally-appropriate mental health counselling, group support and advocacy to 50 individuals each year.
