Bevis Marks Synagogue Heritage Foundation

Visitor Experience at Bevis Marks Synagogue

We are due to open the new Dangoor Heritage Centre soon! Would you like to join our team to welcome visitors at this exciting new visitor attraction? We are building a team of Volunteers who will help us share the unique stories of the Spanish & Portuguese Sephardi community with the public. Our new galleries display paintings, Judaica, silver, archives, and other treasures belonging to our community. The Dangoor Heritage Centre will for the first time welcome a wide range of people to discover more about the Sephardi community. Are you passionate about heritage and culture and engaging with people? We are looking for volunteers to: - provide a warm welcome and assist with ticket purchases - help our visitors find their way around the site and use our specially recorded audio guide - encourage participation in family activities - support our giftshop and kosher café - help with research and guiding. Throughout your shift, there will be an opportunity to get involved in different elements of the visitors’ journey. There will be opportunities for regular shifts, or more occasional volunteering.

Not sure which role suits you or need a little friendly help? Please contact Angie at angie@jvn.org.uk for London or Rebecca at manchester@jvn.org.uk for Manchester.

Bevis Marks Synagogue Heritage Foundation

The Bevis Marks Synagogue Heritage Foundation is an independent charity, created in 2019 by the Spanish and Portuguese Sephardi Community, to preserve and manage the buildings, archives and collections of the Bevis Marks Synagogue.

The Foundation’s vision is to enable Bevis Marks’ living community to thrive and develop the Synagogue into a vibrant meeting-place which welcomes visitors of all faiths and none to celebrate and learn about the history, culture and traditions of the Spanish and Portuguese Jewish community.

Our aim is to pass on to future generations the heritage that has enriched our own lives and a legacy which ensures it is preserved and shared for the benefit of others for centuries to come.

Our current goals are to secure all the funds needed to complete the development project and to establish an endowment fund to help with future maintenance and preservation of the Synagogue.
