Registering as a volunteer can open up a whole new world of volunteering opportunities
My name is Clive Boxer. I was brought up and educated in Willesden. I did my National Service, and when I came out of the Army, I decided I ought to do something. After I qualified, I became a volunteer lawyer for Ajex, and I've been associated and involved with them ever since.
I started around 1980, so I've been volunteering for over 50 years in one form or another. As the voluntary legal advisor for Ajex, I was involved in quite a lot of work. I worked very closely with the then-president, Eddie Rothschild. I later became an administrator on the Record of Honour, the ROH. The ROH is a record of every Jewish serviceman or woman in the British Armed Forces since 1934. Until 1934, there was a big book in which it was all recorded, but nothing after. So we started to put it all on computer record.
"We now have over 91,000 entries, all of which I’ve been associated with in some shape or form. Anyone searching for people in the services who are Jewish can inquire of us."
