For the next Volunteer Management Network Event, JVN offers you a Data Protection workshop that will advise on best practice in keeping data of your service users safe and will cover the upcoming changes and GDPR principles and their practical implications. The aim of the session is awareness on what you need to know, where there may be gaps, and what you need to ask. The session will be run by Jon Benjamin from MJB Consulting.
Topics will include:
- Understanding of the principles and conditions of data processing and data subject rights under GDPR
- How to identify data protection risk in your charity
- The rights of the individual - Privacy and Security
- The duties of those handling data (Data controllers.)
- Who has to comply - staff, volunteers, third parties
- Consent - when you must have it and how to get it
- Legitimate interest and legal obligations
- Steps you need to take now
