Registering as a volunteer can open up a whole new world of volunteering opportunities
My name is Eli Seliger. I started volunteering for Zichron Menachem in 2002. We ran a camp for children with cancer and their families, 107 people in total.
As I'm sure has been said many, many other times, but we get a lot more than what we give. When you have a child who comes with a sad face and goes home with a smile, we know we've achieved something. When we organise a camp, we take children and parents out of a hole and give them a bit of life. That's what we're here for. That's what we're trying to do.
"Our children are taking a leaf from our book. and are continuing what it means to give. We believe that people should see and understand what volunteering means and what we get out of volunteering, never mind what the recipients get. It's what we get out of and what we are gaining as a result of giving."
