GesherEU Support Network
GesherEU (Gesher meaning "bridge") acts as the bridge for those who have chosen to leave the socially excluding ultra-orthodox (Charedi) community and who want to enter mainstream British society. The charity does not promote or encourage people to leave the Charedi community. GesherEU is a supportive community for these individuals as they begin to enter mainstream society where they will need to live independently, support themselves financially, making their own life-choices and decisions. Many will have lost their entire support network, often ostracised by their family, friends, community and all that is familiar to them. With extremely limited education and in some cases, Yiddish being their first and often only language, they find it extremely difficult to navigate the modern world.
