Ian has been central to Coventry Jewish Reform Community, serving on the executive for at least 27 years, including as its Chair. Fluent in Biblical Hebrew, he has led the services for 24 years. Ian’s reassuring presence is highly appreciated when he leads funerals, stone settings, blessings, and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. Ian conscientiously prepares for each occasion by counselling participants, allocating readings and writing thoughtful reflections.

Ian’s inclusive attitude is exemplary. He always welcomes and encourages newcomers, patiently coaches those considering conversion to Judaism, guiding them to the right Rabbi whose flavour of Judaism fits their lifestyle and religious leanings.

"Relocating to Telford in 2011 (a 106-mile round trip) has not stopped Ian’s committed CJRC work. He visits sick members and provides lifts home to our more vulnerable members. His tuna flan is also legendary. We are a small community that would struggle to exist without people like Ian, who effectively act like our glue."
