Registering as a volunteer can open up a whole new world of volunteering opportunities
Volunteering is by no means a solely Jewish activity and, although we work mainly within the Jewish community, we work hard to ensure we have a good presence in more secular and othe faith arenas too. We ensure that a wide spread of faith-sensitive volunteering opportunities in both Jewish and non-Jewish charities is available. Search through all of our volunteering opportunities here.
We also engage in interfaith projects to improve relations between people of different faiths. Each year we run an winter interfaith volunteering campaign, in conjunction with Tikun and Caritas (Europe’s largest Catholic voluntary organisation), to encourage Jewish people to volunteer for secular and Christian organisations, many of which are short-staffed and overstretched around the holiday season. Click here to find out more about our seasonal campaigns.
JVN is also seen as an expert in volunteering in wider society, advising other faith-based voluntary organisations on best practice in volunteer recruitment and management. We have even helped set up a Catholic and Muslim equivalent of JVN for their own communities; and recently we were commission by Strengthening Faith Institutions (SFI), to produce a version of our Companion to Volunteering, designed specifically for volunteers and volunteer managers in faith institutions and places of worship. You can download this version of the Companion for free here.
