Headroom - Front of House Volunteer
Head Room Café offers a warm and welcoming space where people can connect, take part in activities and access support within the community. As a Front of House Volunteer, you will help provide excellent customer service, serve food and drinks, and contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive café environment.
Key responsibilities:
• Provide a warm, friendly and inclusive experience for customers, visitors and members of the Head Room community.
• Serve food and drinks, take orders and process payments while delivering excellent customer service.
• Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming café environment, including clearing tables when needed.
• Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to support the smooth running of the café, activities and events.
• Follow health and safety, food hygiene, safeguarding and confidentiality requirements, and raise concerns appropriately.
What we need:
• Regular availability agreed with the café team, ideally for around 12 months.
• Three-hour long sessions, 12 – 3. We are looking for support on Monday and Sunday, but potentially other days of the week too.
What difference you will make
You will play a vital part in ensuring that all our clients and customers receive a warm welcome and feel like they have a place where they feel supported, included and valued.
Jami, part of Jewish Care, is here when mental illness, distress and trauma make everyday life a struggle. With many in the Jewish community facing anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, antisemitism, family pressures and suicidal thoughts, the need for specialist mental health support has never been greater and the Headroom Cafe often serves as a vital stepping stone to accessing our other services.
We currently support over 3,600 young people and adults through a wide range of services – from social work and talking therapies to volunteer befriending and vocational support – and demand continues to grow.
Guided by Jewish Care’s 2026–2030 strategy, Altogether Stronger, we are listening to our community and responding to what matters most. With Jami’s specialist expertise, we will grow mental health support for children and adults as part of Jewish Care’s wider network of care, support and community services – helping more people to live well, stay connected and feel supported across every stage of life.
