How did I get into volunteering? It's quite a long story. My three kids were growing up, as they do, and I was thinking, ‘What am I going to do with my time?’ Then my husband and I found ourselves at a charity dinner, one of many. When the appeal form came, there was a box you could tick, which said ‘give time’. I thought ‘I've got loads of time’, so I just ticked it, and I thought: ‘these people are never going to contact me’. And guess what? I got a phone call.

I didn't really volunteer, and Kisharon was a very different world from the world that I grew up in and that I was living in. After trying a few roles that didn’t suit me, I met Chaim Dovid, who changed my life. He’s an absolute spark; he makes my life just brilliant.
