Registering as a volunteer can open up a whole new world of volunteering opportunities

Please note that the volunteering roles will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Volunteers are kindly asked to perform the role they are assigned, which will be confirmed in a later email. If all volunteering roles are filled, you will be put on the waiting list. Volunteers may be asked to do another role on the day, if required.
Registration Desk Volunteer (Age 18+) 9am - 12.30pm
There will be registration desks situated at the front of the Charity Fair. You will need to register all new runners on the day and use your smartphone to register people. You will need to have a phone which has access to the internet. Ensure you complete full registration details on the form provided for each new runner.
Runner Packs Volunteer (Age 18+) 9am - 12.30pm
Your role will be handing out runners packs and also t-shirts to runners who register on the day. Every new runner will need to be given a t-shirt and running number. It is likely that runners who have pre-paid will also be collecting their t-shirt and running number.
Start/Finish Line Volunteer (Age 18+) 10 am- 2 pm
Being on the Start Line is a crucial role to ensure that runners are well prepared and races begin on time. Ensure runners are gathered into the ‘holding area’ ready for warm up. Join in the warm-up and encourage runners and their families to join in. Arrange the runners into organised rows to start the race and direct families back towards the spectators’ area, Charity Fair and Fun Zone.
Alternatively, you may be stationed at the finish line, finish zone or cool down area. Congratulate and support the runners as they complete their run and cross the finish line. In the finish zone, hand out one medal, food and water to each runner. Then direct runners through the cool down area and back towards the Charity Fair and Fun Zone.
You could be on both Start and the Finish Line if required. This is an active role.
Water Station & Marshal Volunteer (Age 18+) 10.00am - 1pm
Your role will be to help the runners/walkers around the course, providing enthusiastic encouragement and assistance where required. You will also be helping them with the water stations when needed. Please also help by picking up litter which runners may drop.
Food Court Volunteer (Age 18+) 11.30am - 2.30pm
Your role will be to take orders and payment, picking up general litter and helping serve orders.
Information about the Maccabi GB Community Fun Run
The Community Fun Run is the event for which JVN recruits and manages the largest number of volunteers every year, and we have been doing it since 2013. Many volunteers come back year after year, citing a fantastic experience and an infectious atmosphere as their primary reason.
Volunteers are a crucial element of the event’s success, and a team of around 100 volunteers is necessary to ensure everything runs smoothly. JVN is responsible for recruiting most of this team and placing each volunteer in different roles. In addition, we also take on some of the volunteer management on the day of the event, and it is our responsibility to ensure that each of our volunteers has a safe, enjoyable and rewarding experience.
Please note that this event is open to runners, spectators, volunteers and charities on a non-denominational basis, regardless of religious affiliation. As such, volunteers are expected to treat any person or organisation they come across with respect, professionalism and tolerance.
