Maccabi GB Community Fun Run  - Sunday 23rd June 2024

The Maccabi GB Community Fun Run is a key date of the Jewish community calendar and the largest sporting event of the year. Participants complete a 1km, 5km or 10km run, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity. It takes place this year on Sunday 23rd June 2024 at a North West London Location. A large team of volunteers is crucial to the event’s success. Please see the volunteering roles for the Fun Run below.

Applications to volunteer are open!

Maccabi GB Community Fun Run 2024 Volunteering Roles

Volunteers ensure the success of the event and we are grateful you are interested in supporting this incredible community event.  We will try to ensure you are offered your preferred role where possible.  Roles are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, so we may need to offer you an alternate role.  On the day, sometimes volunteers may be asked to support other roles and we appreciate your flexibility.

Registration Desk Volunteer (Age 18+) 9am - 12.30pm
The Registration Desk is situated at the entrance of the venue.  Volunteers will need to help to enrol unregistered runners on the form provided.  In order to do this you will need to download the Zettle App on your smartphone.

Welcome Desk Volunteer (Age 18+) 9am - 12.30pm
Your role will be to welcome all those who have already pre-registered to the event. There will be separate streams of new runners and pre-registered runners on entry.

Runner Packs Volunteer (Age 18+) 9am - 12.30pm
Your role will be handing out runners packs and also t-shirts to runners who register on the day. Every new runner will need to be given a t-shirt and running number. It is likely that runners who have pre-paid will also be collecting their t-shirt and running number.

Start/Finish Line Volunteer (Age 18+) 10 am- 1 pm
Being on the Start Line is a crucial role to ensure that runners are well prepared and races begin on time. Ensure runners are gathered into the ‘holding area’ ready for warm up.  Arrange the runners into organised rows to start the race and direct families towards the spectators’ area, Charity Fair and Fun Zone.
At the Finish Line congratulate and support the runners as they complete their run and cross the finish line. Handing a medal, food and water to each runner, and direct them back towards the Charity Fair and Fun Zone.

Water Station Volunteer (Age 18+) 10.00am - 1pm
Your role will be to help the runners/walkers by providing them with bottles at the water stations around the course and ensuring everyone has access to water. Please also help by picking up litter which runners may drop.

Marshal Volunteer (Age 18+) 10.00am - 1pm
Your role will be to help the runners/walkers around the course, providing enthusiastic encouragement and assistance where required. Please also help by picking up litter which runners may drop.

Information about the Maccabi GB Community Fun Run

The Community Fun Run is the event for which JVN recruits and manages the largest number of volunteers every year, and we have been doing it since 2013. Many volunteers come back year after year, citing a fantastic experience and an infectious atmosphere as their primary reason.

Volunteers are a crucial element of the event’s success, and a team of around 40 volunteers is necessary to ensure everything runs smoothly. JVN is responsible for recruiting most of this team and placing each volunteer in different roles. In addition, we also take on some of the volunteer management on the day of the event, and it is our responsibility to ensure that each of our volunteers has a safe, enjoyable and rewarding experience.

Please note that this event is open to runners, spectators, volunteers and charities on a non-denominational basis, regardless of religious affiliation. As such, volunteers are expected to treat any person or organisation they come across with respect, professionalism and tolerance.
