Wandsworth community chaplaincy trust
Wandsworth Community Chaplaincy Trust is a charity which offers a volunteer befriending service to prisoners at HMP Wandsworth.
This service is offered to, and by, people of all faiths and none. Its aim is to help stop prisoners re-offending by giving befriending support prior to release and during resettlement in the community. We are looking for more volunteers who are able to offer compassion, unconditional love and guidance to prisoners to support a reduction in their offending.
The Community Chaplaincy builds contacts with people who are interested in supporting ex-prisoners to make a fresh start. A part of this is selecting and training volunteer befrienders from the community. Four months prior to release a befriender is matched up with a prisoner. They visit him fortnightly, as he works towards release. Befrienders will support the prisoner as he is h
