Over 270 people gathered at Finchley Synagogue to hear who would win the most prestigious volunteering awards the community has to offer.
The event, sponsored by the Maurice Wohl Charitable Foundation, was held as part of JVN's comitment to recognising and publicising the incredible work volunteers do to sustain and advance Jewish community life in the UK.
Walter Felman, winner of the Ros Preston OBE Award for Overseas & International Volunteering, said: "For me, volunteering has allowed me to feel I'm spending my life usefully and has given me the chance to work with some wonderful people."
Walter and the other winners encouraged those present to continue with their fantastic voluntary work, while many present who were not nominated for an award were also inspired to give back.
Everyone at the event was also keen to highlight the tremendous importance of ensuring volunteers are rightly praised for the work their do.
The award winners were presented with the trophy and certificate, while other shortlisted nominees also received a certificate to commend their contribution. JVN Chairman David Lazarus commented, "There is no doubt in my mind that volunteering is the essential glue that binds and secures our community and its future. Each and every one of the roles we saw tonight is unique, special and vitally important."
Newly introduced JVN Life Patron Daniel Levy added: "The world needs you; it needs us; and it most certainly needs JVN." 
The award winners were: Samantha Brunner, Gill Cashdan, Walter Felman, Karen Goodkind, the Jewish Salford Healthy Communities Colleaborative Team, Peter Lewinson, Steve Miller, NLP Financial Management, the Northwood & Pinner Liberal Synagogue Care Team, Maralyn Podro, Noah Rubin, Helen Sarkany and Nick Trapp.
