Volunteer Needed to Lead Chair-Based Yoga Sessions – Mill Hill East

We are looking for a volunteer to lead chair-based yoga sessions for tenants at our building in Mill Hill East. The aim is to provide tenants with an opportunity to enjoy gentle movement, improve flexibility and balance, and experience the relaxing benefits of yoga in a friendly and welcoming environment. The volunteer would help organise and lead regular sessions, guiding tenants through gentle seated movements, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques. Chair-based yoga offers a way to enjoy the benefits of yoga without the need to get down onto a mat, making it a more accessible activity for people with different mobility levels. We are looking for someone who has a good knowledge of chair-based yoga and would enjoy sharing their interest with others. The ability to adapt movements to suit different abilities and needs would be particularly beneficial, helping to ensure that tenants feel comfortable, safe and included. Previous experience of leading group sessions would be an advantage. Application process (application form, references etc.) and a DBS check will be required before volunteering can commence. JBD will apply for the DBS on the volunteer's behalf

Not sure which role suits you or need a little friendly help? Please contact our volunteer broker at volunteerbroker@jvn.org.uk for London or Rebecca at manchester@jvn.org.uk for Manchester.

Charity

Jewish Blind & Disabled

Jewish Blind & Disabled is the only charity dedicated to enabling people from the age of 18 upwards, who have physical disabilities or impaired vision, to live independently with the dignity and choice that are so easy for others to take for granted.

One in five people in the UK have to face a diagnosis of disability at some point in their lives, with someone going blind every hour. Jewish Blind & Disabled’s mission is to restore their independence and hope for the future through our developments of state-of-the-art mobility with resident house managers on site and on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week in case of an emergency; giving tremendous peace of mind not just to the tenant but to their family too.

We provide specially adapted mobility apartments located in one of our seven supportive developments in London, Hertfordshire and Essex. Alongside this, we offer occupational therapist assessments and support to help people stay independent and safe in their own home and support groups that connect people living with disabilities and sight loss to each other.

As an independent charity that does not receive any government funding, Jewish Blind & Disabled is very grateful for the support of our volunteers.
