Zemel Choir
Stewards for concerts
The Zemel Choir is organising an Interfaith Music Festival, Faithful Voices, from 11th to 18th November. The festival features music and performers from Jewish, Christian, Hindu and Muslim traditions. Concerts are being held in St Botolph’s-without-Bishopsgate in the City of London on Wed 11th November at 6pm, and in St Jude’s Church, Hampstead Garden Suburb on Wed 18th November, 7pm. We are looking for volunteer stewards inside the venues to assist from approximately 30-45 mins before the start times until the concerts finish. Volunteers for either or both dates would be welcome. The St Botolph's concert will have a particular emphasis on Remembrance as it is being held on Armistice Day.
What difference you will make
London is a world city, home to many different faiths and ethnicities. It provides safety and prosperity for a diverse global population. Preserving this existence requires an active effort on the part of the people of London. Recent events make clear the importance of providing safe spaces for shared culture and the forging of a shared identity. Music provides one means of creating this kind of safe space. Our contribution is an interfaith festival that focusses on the human voice – Faithful Voices. We launched this festival in 2022, and are now returning for the third festival in 2026, in which we partner with musicians from different faith backgrounds for performances in synagogues and churches.
What additional skills or experience you should have
CST experience would be useful but not essential, but it would be helpful if at least one volunteer has CST training.
What training we will provide for you
A briefing beforehand on the venue and emergency procedures.
What you will get out of volunteering for us
Satisfaction in assisting a worthwhile communal Interfaith event. Volunteers will of course also be able to hear the concert.
