Learning to drive can be life-changing for care-experienced young people, opening up opportunities for employment, education and greater independence. The average learner needs around 46 hours of professional driving lessons and a further 22 hours of practice with a parent, family member or trusted adult before passing their test. While Live Unlimited funds driving lessons through our Driving Ahead programme, many of our young people do not have someone who can support them with additional practice. We are looking for patient, kind and reliable volunteers to accompany learner drivers as they approach their test. You'll help them build confidence behind the wheel, gain valuable road experience, and develop the skills they need to pass their test and drive safely and independently. By giving just a few hours of your time, you can help a young person gain a qualification that could transform their future. No teaching is required, just encouragement, support and a willingness to help a young person succeed.
