Volunteers on Wheels

We are seeking volunteers to help load/unload our food distribution vans!

At Volunteers on Wheels, we are seeking volunteers to help load and unload surplus food and supplies from our vans, helping feed thousands of vulnerable people suffering from food insecurity! Who we are: At Volunteers on Wheels our mission is to alleviate food poverty and insecurity. Through our dedicated team of volunteers, we distribute vital supplies to food banks, ensuring they are able to help the thousands of vulnerable people who depend on their service. The valuable logistic service that we provide makes a real difference to people’s lives and currently enables the distribution of more than one million food parcels each year. For our distribution service to run smoothly and reliably it is crucial that we have plenty of assistants available, so we are always looking for new volunteers to lend a hand! Your role: As an assistant you will accompany drivers on collection/delivery routes, helping to collect supplies and load/unload the vans. Our service operates Monday to Friday and assistants are needed from 8:30am (starting in Mill Hill NW7) to around lunchtime. Travel information: Our vans are located on Upper Page Street, Mill Hill, NW7 2BE There is free on-street parking available.

Not sure which role suits you or need a little friendly help? Please contact Angie at angie@jvn.org.uk for London or Rebecca at manchester@jvn.org.uk for Manchester.

Volunteers on Wheels

Volunteers on Wheels (VoW) collects and delivers food and other essential goods in bulk, to and for, food banks in North/Northwest London, Middlesex, Harrow and Hertfordshire, and surrounding areas.

Food banks have limited volunteer numbers and say our transport logistics service is a “vital link in the chain distributing more than 1 million food parcels per year” to vulnerable members of our society struggling with food insecurity and poverty.

Our service provides 3 additional social community benefits in the form of:
- Reduced food wastage.
- Reduced fuel consumption.
- Reduced environmental impact.

VoW currently supports over 40 food banks who help more than 30,000 people per week.
