A Fond Farewell

November 1, 2012

JVN is always grateful to its wonderful team of staff, trustees and volunteers and it is always sad when we have to say goodbye to someone. Last week was just such a sad occassion as we bade farewell to our Special Projects Co-ordinator Judy Nagler who has been with us for two years. Judy has worked tirelessly for us to help place people who, for one reason or another, are hard to place in volunteering opportunities.

Judy originally qualified as a social worker and has vast experience of working with different people of all ages and abilities. She is always sensitive to the needs of others, not least in her work with JVN. Judy was especially valued for her talent of working one-to-one with people on an individual basis to find their tailor-made perfect volunteering opportunity.

Chassiyah Freilich is a volunteer whom Judy has worked one-to-one with to find her an opportunity. She thoroughly enjoys working at the Jewish Military Museum on a regular basis. At Judy’s farewell party last week, Chassiyah said she was indebted to Judy for finding her such a meaningful and fulfilling volunteering opportunity.

Judy is now retiring in order to look after her health and fitness and to take care of her grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by the team at JVN and by all the volunteers she has helped over the years. And of course, she will always be welcome back as a volunteer!

Volunteer opportunity of the week

Camp Simcha are looking for someone who is experienced with Facebook and Twitter together with any other forms of social media. We are trying to work out how best to interact with people within the community to get out the name of Camp Simcha and increase awareness of our services, as well as updating the community with our news and volunteering opportunities. This person doesn’t have to be based in London they can be based anywhere! We would like this person to create and design landing and welcome pages for facebook. Time commitment will be 2 -4 hours per week.

Please contact Daniel at daniel@campsimcha.org.uk.
