What difference you will make
By volunteering in our community garden, you’ll help create a welcoming and vibrant outdoor space that can be enjoyed by our members and the wider local community. Your support will help grow fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs, and flowers, providing opportunities for people to connect with nature, develop new skills, and enjoy the wellbeing benefits of spending time outdoors.
This role supports our charitable objectives by helping to maintain an inclusive and accessible community space where our members can participate in meaningful gardening activities. A thriving garden provides opportunities for learning, social interaction, skill development, and improved wellbeing, while also strengthening connections with the local community. Volunteers play a vital role in ensuring the garden remains a flourishing resource that enriches the lives of those we support.
What additional skills or experience you should have
No previous skills or experience are required!
If you already have some gardening experience, that's fantastic, whether that's successfully keeping a supermarket basil plant alive, tending to your own garden, or growing something from seed to harvest.
But don't worry if you've never gardened before. The most important thing is your enthusiasm, willingness to get involved, and eagerness to learn. Our friendly team will be there to support you every step of the way!
What training we will provide for you
You'll complete a few short online training courses:
Safeguarding
Autism Awareness
Learning Disabilities Awareness
You'll also learn practical gardening skills from our fantastic Gardening Teacher, who will share tips, tricks, and fun gardening facts along the way. Whether you're a beginner or have experience, there's always something new to learn!
