JVN Showcases All Aspects of Volunteering During Volunteers’ Week
The Jewish Volunteering Network was out in force to mark this year’s National Volunteers’ Week event, an annual celebration of volunteers and volunteering that takes place between June 1-7.
The week was packed with a mixture of roadshows, conferences and JVN appearances, highlighting the achievements and huge possibilities of volunteering within the Jewish and wider community.
The JVN Roadshow, now in its 6th year, travelled to Brent Cross, Edgware and Temple Fortune.
In partnership with Volunteering Barnet, JVN hosted 10 charities in the centre of Brent Cross Shopping Centre offering passers-by the opportunity to speak to a variety of local causes, sign up as volunteers, micro-volunteer with their families and network. The Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Caroline Stock, also visited the event, meeting volunteers and talking about her own experiences volunteering in the community. The JVN roadshow continued to Edgware, outside Hadar supermarket and Temple Fortune outside Daniel’s bakery. 100’s of new volunteers registered their interest in becoming a volunteer, advocating the JVN’s continual belief that there is genuine commitment amongst people to give back to their community
On the Monday of Volunteer’s Week, JVN, in partnership with Pajes, hosted a ‘Becoming a School Governor’ Conference with over 100 prospective school governors understanding.
Tuesday evening saw JVN, in partnership with Lead (a division of the JLC) giving host to the annual Jewish Community Trustees’ Conference. The Conference was sold out with over 140 attendees as trustees heard about diversity, important charity updates, impact evaluation, safeguarding, fraud & much more.
JVN in Manchester hosted a fantastic evening ‘Volunteering in the community – Be Inspired’ which saw guest speakers, Kate Lurie of Jewish Action for Mental Health and Marc Levy of the Jewish Leadership Council give inspirational talks about their own volunteering experiences.
Volunteers’ Week provides the opportunity for our community to take pride in its volunteers and to showcase their incredible work.
