How Was This Year Different From All Other Years?
This Pesach, Jewish people all over the world will be asking, how is this night different from all other nights?
Four people in particular will be asking themselves:
HOW WAS THIS YEAR DIFFERENT FROM ALL OTHER YEARS?
— This year, Jacob and his mum helped prepare lunch on December 25th at The Manna at St Stephen’s in Islington for local homeless people.
— This year, Colin retired after 42 years running his own business and decided to use his years of experience to help source donations of clothes and toiletries for refugees with one of our member charities.
— This year, Barbara became a mentor to support a young woman with a learning disability to volunteer, describing it as one of the most rewarding things she has ever done.
— This year, Gillian found herself walking into JVN’s office, after 3 years of mental health issues and now volunteers, using her skills as a joiner, to upscale furniture at one of our member charity’s warehouses.
All this was made possible by the Jewish Volunteering Network.
Put simply, volunteering helps everyone in the community. It’s good for your health; it’s good for your self-esteem; it’s good for everybody. For many it’s a way to meet new people, to give back to your community and change someone’s life.
