Thinking of Becoming a School Governor?
School governors are an essential element contributing to the excellent schools that we have in the community.
There is often the misconception that you need a background in education to be a school governor or be a parent of a child at that school. This is not the case. A school’s governing body needs to have a range of complementary skills to be as effective as it can be.
If you have ever considered becoming a school governor (or even if you haven’t so far!) please come and take the opportunity on Monday 3rd June, 2019 to attend a session run by PaJeS (Partnerships for Jewish Schools) in conjunction with JVN (the Jewish Volunteering Network).
The session will be run by Sue Nyman, Chair of Yavneh College Academy Trust and Susy Stone who is the retiring Headteacher of Akiva Primary School. Both have been school governors of primary and secondary schools.
You will hear what the role entails, have the opportunity to meet other governors at both primary and secondary level and ask any questions that you might have.
