Here are the most commonly asked questions charities ask about JVN. Please do take a look at the answers before contacting us – click on the questions and the answers will drop down.

There are many compelling reasons why over 500 organisations have, since our inception in 2007, used JVN to help them find volunteers. Click here to see our top five reasons.

JVN’s services are available to all registered charities in England and Wales. Our services are available free to all registered charities, following which they may take out Membership. Click here to find out more about these options.

Registering your organisation with JVN is a very simple and straightforward process, provided you have a registered charity number. You can find out how to register with JVN and get started promoting your volunteering opportunities here.

JVN is primarily a web-based portal connecting volunteers to volunteering opportunities. You can find out how our website works and your responsibilities towards volunteers when using our services here.

JVN is more than just a connecting service – we support voluntary sector organisations in a number of different ways. You can click here to find out more about what we do, or here to see how to engage with our various projects. JVN also provides a number of services exclusively for Full Member charities. Click here to learn more about JVN Membership.

Although we are a UK-based charity, JVN does promote volunteering opportunities for overseas organisations, many of which have a British arm or a ‘British Friends Of’ organisation based in the UK (they must have registered charity status in the UK). We do run a project to specifically promote volunteering in Israel, though you are also able to promote volunteering anywhere abroad with us.

Many of our additional services are available to JVN Full Member Charities only – click here to find out more. However, we do provide other advice and support services for all charities, and we also work to promote volunteering throughout the UK. We also provide links to various resources for volunteer managers, other charity professionals and trustees here.

JVN’s services for charities are free on our website. Charities can choose to become JVN Members in order to access ou full range of services. You can find out more about our Membership and our Membership fees here. JVN also provides a range of volunteer management seminars and other events for charity professionals and trustees, for some of which we make a small charge (JVN Full Member Charities usually receive a discount). Click here to find out more about our events.

As well as encouraging all charities to recognise the contribution of their volunteers, Volunteers’ Week (the first week of June every year), an annual celebration of volunteering, provides a chance for JVN to thank all volunteers in all organisations. Click here to find out more about the activities we have planned for Volunteers’ Week 2018. We also hold our own Volunteering Awards, where charities can nominate their volunteers to be recognised on a community-wide scale through our Awards Ceremony, held every autumn. Click here to read more about this year’s JVN Volunteering Awards.
