Kiddush is an important ritual to so many of our residents and brings a wonderful warmth and spirituality to the home, as well as conjuring up wonderful memories and feelings for all who attend, which in itself can be incredibly healing and also stimulating. It is an incredibly important moment of the week and is enjoyed and appreciated by all who attend. Volunteering for this roles enables us to ensure that all residents have the opportunity to engage in Kiddush prayers each week and continue their own traditions, whatever stage they are at in life. This is wonderful role and a lovely mitzvah.

-An understanding of how to perform Kiddush prayers and the confidence to do so with a small group of people.
A warm manner with patience and empathy
To be able to confidently engage with a diverse range of people and enjoy helping others.
A strong understanding and of issues that affect people in later life and those living with dementia.
Reliability, consistency, and dependability.
Good conversational and listening skills with a clear speaking voice.
Patience, empathy and a non-judgemental attitude.
The ability to work independently but also stay within the role’s boundaries – recognising what should and shouldn’t be done and when to seek advice or report concerns.

A DBS is required for this role, which we will do for you.

Training is provided so that volunteers can carry out their roles to the highest professional standards, develop new skills, build confidence, make new friends and take on new and increasingly responsible tasks.

Jewish Care will provide the following training, essential for this role, We will:
- Provide you with access to a Volunteer Handbook and all Policies and Procedures.
- Provide Induction Training: Getting to know Jewish Care, Communication & Disability Awareness, Boundaries & Confidentiality, Safeguarding, Health & Safety, GDPR.
- Provide on the job induction and orientation to the role as well as ongoing support
